A study of the effect of impurities in crude CL-20 on the recrystallization process by HPLC showed that the impurities that are CL-20 synthesis intermediates are not completely removed on recrystallization process. Purification methods are described that afford CL-20 samples of a higher chemical purity. Samples of CL-20 crystals obtained by recrystallization from crude CL-20 of different chemical purity were compared.
