Displaying latent fingerprints using phosphor nanopowders

摘要

Surface modified Y_2O_3:M~(3+) (where M = Eu or Tb) nanometre sized phosphor particles were successfully synthesised and used to visualize fingerprints making use of the photoluminescent emission from the particles. The surface modifications manifested great adherence to the fingerprint residue even after a one year period.
