ON THE LIFTING PERFORMANCE OF FINGER SEAL WITH PAD GROOVED

摘要

A finger seal model with grooving structure is proposed and investigated in this paper. By grooving on the bottom of finger pad, we can get an unequal axial clearance between the finger pad and shaft. Two way fluid-solid interactions are simulated for those different grooved models. The results indicated many positive effects. Firstly, an irregular clearance happened due to the solid deformation. Secondly, the seal flow fields changed because of grooved structure. Thirdly, the grooving structure is valid to improve the seal lift performance. Fourthly, the vortices in the groove have effects to improve seal performance etc. The grooving structure could be designed differently for the different application.
