Flow Parameters of Combined Wave Overtopping and Storm Surge Overflow of a Trapezoidal Levee

Prior analyses of measurements from laboratory tests of combined wave overtopping and storm surge overflow (Hughes and Nadal 2009) produced an empirical equation for average overtopping discharge and several empirical relationships for parameters associated with the overtopping flow hydrodynamics on the landward-side slope. This paper builds on the earlier hydrodynamic results with a preliminary analysis of shear stresses acting over the landward-side slope. An empirical equation is given for the mean shear stress in terms of landward-side slope hydrodynamic parameters.
