Sediment transport in adjacent to offshore breakwaters is often subject to complex interactions between currents and surface waves around these structures, particularly in the UK where tidal current is strong. Typical example of such process can be found near the breakwater system at Sea Palling, Norfolk. Many studies have been conducted in the past on the beach responds to the construction of offshore breakwaters under wave actions using computer models, e.g. Zyserman et al (2001) and Li et al (2007a).
