AL KHIRAN BREAKWATER - KUWAIT

The Al Khiran breakwater has been designed by Buro Happold, Bath, England, to protect the northern limb of the Pearl City development for La' Ala Al Kuwait Property Company of Kuwait City. Originally conceived as a low crest offshore rock breakwater, the design parameters were to reduce wave climate at the sandy foreshore in front of the residential developments to a maximum wave of about lm under 1 in 100 yr storm conditions. Wave climate determined for the project forecasts waves of up to 4m significant wave height, 10-12 second period.
