We used the Natural Chiral Dopant D-Limonene in the recently developed driving scheme for reflective cholesteric active matrix displays. Since the scheme is based on the transition to the homeotropic state and a relaxation from homeotropic to planar, cholesteric materials with low viscosity and low elastic constants are extremely desirable. It turns out that the properties induced by D-Limonene to the cholesteric mixture are very suitable for such a drive scheme. We show it can be used for 60Hz frame video ratio operation with better performance than a cholesteric without it.
