A PRODUCT-CENTRIC FRAMEWORK ON THE LINKAGE BETWEEN NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

The intersection of new product development and supply chain management is crucial for product success. Supply chain management and performance are connected to product architecture. Product architecture, in turn, is chosen during product development. Hence, we examine the link between product development and supply chains with product architecture as our central view. We develop a conceptual model, which explains how product success depends on alignment between new product development and supply chain. We highlight the specific importance of order fulfillment and sourcing strategies in the relationship between supply chains and new products, as they increasingly depend on product variety and versatility.
