The Source of China's Trade Expansion: Extensive Margin and Intensive Margin

摘要

Based on the theoretical methods by Feenstra and others, this paper uses empirical panel data during 2000-2007 to measure the growth of international trade from China's provinces for both extensive and intensive margins. Extensive margin reflecting the level of variety becomes a significant factor in the export trade, and slightly higher than intensive margin. The result shows that emerging industrial countries has gradually become a new important market for China's export of trade variety.
