Impermeability or limited permeability of pervious concrete pavements renders thepavements distressed because the pavement no longer fulfills its role as a storm watermanagement tool. Maintenance to restore impermeability of pervious concrete pavements israrely considered or planned for by owners. This paper reviews the efficacy of three commonmunicipal utility maintenance or street cleaning machines to remove fine and organic materialfrom the interconnected void spaces of pervious concrete. In addition, this paper introduces anew method to show how and where entrapped fines reside in the interconnected void spaces ofpervious concrete in relation to the pavement surface.
