This work investigates three different screen printing aluminium pastes especially designed for solar cellswith passivated rear side. We present large area, 150 μm thin silicon solar cells with passivated surfaces fabricated fromCzochralski silicon using exclusively industrial-type production equipment. The rear surface of the cells exhibit solderpads for easy module assembly. Laser fired contacts connect the p-type base to the rear side metallization. Differences inconversion efficiency depending on the applied aluminium paste are observed. These differences are assigned to themeasure of damage to the rear side passivation induced by the different pastes during contact firing. It is also shown thata reduced aluminium paste lay down of 4.5 mg/cm~2 leads to competitive conversion efficiencies and thus is a simple andpromising way to decrease production costs.
