Demand Side Monitoring (DSM) of energy demand-supply balance, for domestic and non-domestic energystocks in the Province of Ontario, is studied. Exergetic design of distributed generation and renewable energysupply from solar photovoltaic systems, considering the Feed-In-Tariff of the Ontario Power Authority, isproposed. Analysis of these energy systems incorporates the historical usage data, with the facility loadcharacteristics of the components, within these systems. The historical usage and simulated distribution ofenergy demand by devices provide a useful tool for reduction or possible elimination of the problem of surplusbaseload generation. By adopting this bottom-up approach, demand forecasting based on independent modelingof end-user’s facility characteristics and meteorological conditions will enhance the capability of the Province’sIndependent Electrical System Operator (IESO).
