Simulations of the reactor building of the Kashiwasaki-Kariwa Unit 7 under the NCO earthquake are presented. The reactor building is analyzed with the FE-method. A lumped stick model, a shell element model and a solid element model are studied. Both time and frequency domain analyses are conducted. Abaqus/Standard and Nastran are used. The soil-structure interaction is modeled with springs and dampers either as frequency independent or with impedance functions simulated with program SASSI. In addition, the soil behavior is studied with a soil-column analysis: borehole near Unit 5 is examined with program Shake91. The results are compared with measurements. All input data is obtained from TEPCO in the framework of KARISMA benchmark.
