Emerging heterogeneous optical wireless access networks for next generation telemedicine and telehealth applications

We propose a converged optical wireless access architecture using radio-over-fiber technology to deliver medical data and images independent of data bit rates, formats, and protocols. We have transported real-time, uncompressed telepathology images over 25-km fiber.
