The switchover from analogue to digital terrestrial television presents a huge opportunity for the telecommunications world to realize mobile broadband roll-out in an economical way. This paper looks at the current status of the analogue switchover worldwide and analyzes regulatory challenges and opportunities associated with the process. It is advocated that allocation of digital dividend for mobile broadband is the best way forward. A novel idea of transporting digital terrestrial television signals over shared mobile broadband channels is presented as a future plan.
