Estimation of summer land surface evapotranspiration using remotely sensed data over the Heihe river basin

In this paper, the typical daily evapotranspiration in the Heihe River Basin in the summer of 2008 are calculated according to the remote sensing data combining with meteorological observation data based on the revised three-temperature model (3T model), and then the space-time characteristics of evapotranspiration are analyzed. Also, the validity and accuracy of the calculated evapotranspiration are verified by E-60 t evaporator measurements obtained from meteorological observation stations and FAO 56 Penman-Monteith model supposed to be the standard model. Results showed that the evapotranspiration values obtained from reverse calculation are more consistent with those calculated by FAO56 PenmanMonteith formula, and the revised 3T model is of adequate accuracy in estimating evapotranspiration of Heihe River Basin and can be applied for the future operational evapotranspiration retrieving.
