On the Green Concept of Chinese Traditional Environmental design Influenced by the Confucianism

As part of Chinese traditional culture, Chinese traditional environmental design is penetrated by Confucian ideology and culture in many aspects. Generally influenced by the Confucianism, Chinese traditional environmental design forms the basic architectural principle of simplicity, aims to achieve the fundamental objective of creating comfortable environment, and acquire the construction mode of the harmony between man and heaven. This enables the Chinese traditional environmental design to comply basically with the requirements of the contemporary green environmental design. This paper intends to start from the core of the Confucianism and elaborates its influence on the environmental design in the Chinese history. Such cultural influence on the concept of environmental design is not only the treasure of our national culture and art, but also enlightenment to the contemporary green environmental design.
