A numerical investigation has been conducted on the flow over a NACA 0012 airfoil using the URANS SST y-Re9 transition model. The model, the computational domain size and grid resolution were validated against experimental and higher order numerical method data. Time-averaged pressure distributions, instantaneous velocity profiles, vorticity and turbulence kinetic energy, and the dynamics of the laminar separation bubble were calculated; their sensitivity to the Reynolds number and airfoil orientation was discussed.
