The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) has recently finalized a safety assessment project, SR-Site, with the objective to assess the long term safety of a KBS-3 type final repository for spent nuclear fuel at Forsmark in Northern Uppland of Sweden. The performed safety assessment is part of a license application to initiate construction of the repository. The application was handed in to the Swedish authorities on March 16, 2011.
