Individual electrode EMFs of new and cycled Sony18650 HC cells have been measured with the help of alithium reference electrode inserted into complete cells.Results have revealed the relative contribution of eachelectrode to voltage hysteresis (the difference in cellEMF between charge and discharge at the same state ofcharge). They have also shown changes to the shape ofthe positive electrode EMF versus state of charge incycled compared to beginning of life cells.
