In order to find out details of high pressure compressor (HPC) flow field, and to improve the aerodynamic properties of the HPC, a set of four-stage large scale axial-flow low-speed research compressor (LSRC) has been designed to represent an embedded stage of a multistage high pressure compressor. The low speed blading has been tested at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA)'s research compressor facility. Detailed flow measurements were taken at the third stage. The results of three dimensional flow calculations and experiments show that the low speed compressor can reproduce the aerodynamic flow structure in high pressure compressor, and the three dimensional calculation can predict the overall performance and inner flow of the compressor well. The results show good agreement between experiment and CFD. However some differences were apparent and these are discussed.
