Evolution Map Model for Organizing Information at Aircraft Conceptual Design Phase

Conceptual design is an important phase of aircraft design, in which a lot of concepts must be generated, analyzed, optimized and compared to get final one used for further preliminary design. To clearly represent and organize the information during this phase, evolution map model is proposed in this paper, which supplies a global vision that can reflect the evolution of multiple design concepts instead of traditional concentration on a single concept. With the flexible and expandable architecture based on evolution units, as well as nesting of evolutions, complex design process can be represented, and different kinds of data can be well organized. A software framework is also given for in-depth development of evolution map model based information management system.
