Nondestructive Testing and Analysis of the PA / NJ Turnpike Delaware River Bridge

Following the fracture of a top chord in a continuous deck truss due to the presence of an unknownplug weld, an emergency response program consisting of stabilization, repair, and partial replacement of the topchord was carried out. Additionally, several hundred other connections were examined using NDT to determine ifthe bridge could be safely returned to service following the repair.
