The Construction of a 1,176 Meter Long Aizhai Suspension Bridge

The construction of Aizhai Suspension Bridge, the world’s longest suspension bridge over a deep mountain valley (>330 meters), was met with many challenges during four years of construction. The main span length is 1,176 m and the two side spans are 242 m and 116 m. This paper presents some of the major features of the bridge and key issues during its construction.
