Mon Wharf Pedestrian Bridge: Design Success and Lessons Learned

With a total length of 607', the Mon Wharf Pedestrian Bridge is a 7-span bridge carrying pedestrian traffic from the Smithfield Street Bridge down to the Mon Wharf along the Monongahela River. The recently completed project involved the construction of an entirely new structure to link the two previously unlinked pedestrian used locations. The project included the design, fabrication, and construction of one of the more aesthetically pleasing pedestrian bridges in the Pittsburgh region.
