Study of Synthetic Oil based Calcium Sulfonate Complex Greases

Calcium Sulfonate Complex Grease is an excellent grease with its remarkable properties not only of thermal resistance, high EP, anti-wear and mechanical stability but also of resistance to corrosion and water. In this paper, we have made various studies of Calcium Sulfonate Complex Grease using different types of synthetic oil for the base oil, aiming to improve those properties to the further extent. As a result, we have found that Calcium Sulfonate Complex Grease will gain excellent properties for low temperatures keeping the well-balanced overall properties of its own when mineral oil is blended with polyalphaolefin (PAO) for the base oil. We have also found that it will acquire excellent thermal resistance and functional life maintaining other properties originally possessed by Calcium Sulfonate Complex Grease if mineral oil is blended with alkyl diphenyl ether (ADE) for the base oil.
