This study was carried out to evaluate Pluronic F127 (PI27) a triblock uncharged copolymers and a thermogelling non ionic surfactant as a carrier for intranasal insulin delivery using rabbits as an animal model.The absorption of insulin from 10% PI 27 formulation, depending on AUC values, was found to be significantly higher than from 5% formulation (PO.05).Although Fatty acids and their esters are well known for their action as absorption enhancers, the results in this study showed that propylene glycol monolourate failed in enhancing insulin absorption while oleic produced moderate effect when used in nasal delivery system containing 10% P127.On the other hand, PI27 it self showed a good enhancing activity for insulin absorption from intranasal delivery system. Tea tree oil 1% in 10% PI27 increased blood glucose level.
