CONTROL OF STICKY CONTAMINANTS WITH CATIONIC TALC IN DEINKED PULP

In this study, the effects of adding cationic talc on sticky contaminants removal and wet-end chemistry behaviors of deinked pulp were investigated, and influences on paper properties were examined. The results showed that, compared with the conventional talc, the cationic talc reduced effectively stickies and dissolved and colloid substances in the pulp. Sticky deposits can be reduced by about 63% by adding 2.0% cationic talc, and DCS reduced from 1989 mg/L to 1927 mg/L. Moreover, reduction of cationic demand of the pulp and decrease of turbidity of the filtrate were achieved.
