Properties of causticizing calcium carbonate and application technology were discussed, combining practice application of causticizing calcium carbonate as filler in printing and writing papermaking line. Results showed that there was much difference between causticizing calcium carbonate from alkali recovery and local commercial PCC and SMI PCC, e. mainly big particle size, wider particle size distribution, different crystal and disadvantage for chemical effects and paper quality(surface strength, bulk, brightness), but it could be used as filler for offset paper alone or combined with commercial PCC. Production control should be reinforced to acquire better quality (particle crystal, particle size distribution and brightness) and better application performance.
