Three white-rot fungi were incubated on white powdery bamboo chips. The residual lignin content and holocellulose content in the decayed bamboo chips were determined, and based on their content delignification selection factors of the fungi were calculated. During a four-week incubation, Trametes hirsute 19-6 had the highest weight loss and delignification ability compared to the other fungi. More than 20% of lignin was degraded by Trametes hirsuta 19-6, and less than 6% of the holocellulose was lost. So Trametes hirsute 19-6 had a higher delignification ability and better delignification selectively than the other white-rot fungi on bamboo chips. As the most efficient utilization of bamboo, we predict that bamboo fiber might be employed as the raw material in the pulp and paper industry after biopulping with Trametes hirsute 19-6.
