OUTDOOR TO INDOOR NOISE TRANSMISSION OF AIRCRAFT NOISE

The noise disturbance to residents near airports depends on out-door to in-door sound transmission from the aircraft acoustic 'sources' to the 'receiver' in a living or bedroom. The sound transmission through the window couples to the room modes, and can create a diffuse sound field in addition to the direct transmitted noise. The interior noise is affected by room geometry and wall impedances.
