SOME PARTICULAR ASPECTS IN THE ACOUSTICAL DESIGN OF ANCIENT THEATRES

Before the well known Vitruvius's opera De Architectura, it is possible to deduce acoustical rules in the design of Greek and Roman Theatres only comparing the few acoustical knowledges of that time with the available open buildings like those present in the south of Italy: while "reading" these acoustical heritages we will try to state some of the possible rules of that time, linked to the idea that music must be harmonic, so buildings could not alter the numerical ratio between distances covered by sound coming from actors and instruments.
