Sediment transport in river estuaries plays an important role in water quality assessment and prediction. Resuspension and deposition of the sediment can be a source of water pollution and eutrophication. The aim of this study is to quantify the interaction between sediment transport and water quality indicators. A linked numerical model was developed to integrate sediment transport with nitrogen biological cycle. The hydrodynamic model was based on the DIVAST model and reactions of the water quality constitutes are defined by QUAL2E model. The linked model has been applied to simulate the hydrodynamic and water quality processes in the River Loughor estuary, and the calculated results have been compared with the field data collected in the past 2 years with good agreements.
