The structure form of the vierendeel latticed shells lies between the single-layer shells and the double-layer shells. It meets the development trend of spatial structure. However, for the structural performance of the vierendeel lat ticed shells, little previous study has been reported and few practical engineering has been bulit. This paper investi gates the structural behavior and stability of the vierendeel latticed flat shell by the commercial general purpose fi nite element package ANSYS. Based on the Block lanczos method, the eigenvalue of linear buckling is obtained. The process of the geometric nonlinear buckling is traced down by ard-length method, in which the initial defects are taken into account. The sensitivity of the structures is also discussed employing this model. The results from this study can be applied for direct design use, and also provide a reference for the revision of relevant design codes.
