In this paper, a model rich-burn/quick-mix/lean-burn (RQL) combustor with rectangular section is preliminarily designed according to technical requirements of RQL combustion. Then, position of jet holes belt in the quick-mix section and the structure of necking are optimized based on the numerical simulation results. Turbulence model, non-premixed combustion model and radiation model are used and mass flow rate of inlet is given in the numerical simulation. The results of simulation indicate that the proper range of distance from swirler outlet to the section of jet holes belt is 100mm-120mm for a low-emissions performance of the studied combustor and a necking configuration is also helpful to inhibition of NOx.
