A Research on Communication Technologies for Distribution Automation

Distribution Automation is an important function in the power delivery system. Because it provides the final link between the large amount delivery system and the terminals. The communication system plays an significant role in distribution automation system (DAS), and a strong communication system build up the core of the distribution automation system (DAS). Although various communication technologies have been adapt by the utility's , there is no one communication technologies that is suit for every situation. This research reviews the architecture of distribution automation system (DAS), discusses the distribution automation communication requirements, and reviews the characteristics of a number of current communication technologies which can be used to serve Distribution Automation.
