WSNs Applied for the Highway Traffic Surveillance

摘要

Wireless sensor networks have been widely used in the surveillance application. In this paper we shed some lights on several issues in building a complete system for using : wireless sensor networks for practical highway/freeway monitoring application. From the engineering perspective it is necessary to consider the nodes deployment and from the application perspective it is necessary to meet the performance requirements. Energy efficiency problem is always a key concern of the actual operation. Traffic vehicle speed estimation is one important index of the monitoring to contribute users to make traffic control judgment Still more deserve to discuss for brighter future of the tracking and monitoring foreground.
