The main theories for the performance analysis and design of small-scale Horizontal-Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) were reviewed in this paper firstly. It included the Momentum Theory, Blade Element Theory, and Combined Blade Element-Momentum Theory. Based on these theories, a program for small scale HAWT was designed and computer simulations on the performance analysis were made in this study. A small rotor mode of HAWT was designed by using this program. The power performance of the designed model was calculated and compared with the wind tunnel test data. The results show the program is effective for the small-scale HAWT design.
