Expression of Invertase Gene Families and Its Inhibitor in Different Types of Tomato Sucrose Metabolism

The possible role of the sucrose-splitting enzymes invertase gene families and its inhibitor (INH) in elongating roots and hypocotyls of two kinds of different types of sucrose metabolism in tomato ( Lysopersicon esculentum cv. Micro-Tom and L. chmielewskii) was tested by using a real-time quantitative RT-PCR analysis. Lin6 gene plays a main role in the vegetative growth stage. Lin5 and Lin7 did not express in Micro-Tom, but express in L.chmielewskii. Lin8 is a silence gene. The expression of INH gene suddenly increased in the fifth euphylla of L.chmielewskii leaves, which is higher than Micro-Tom about thirty times. The results showed that sucrose metabolism did not occur in "source", but more transport to the "sink" in the vegetative growth stage. Increasement of cell wall and vacuole invertase in the tomato growth zone can promote plant growth.
