Hydraulic transformer is a new hydraulic component. In order to decrease the hydraulic transformer's volume, uncover its working principle, and provide theoretical guidance for its practical application, here theoretical analysis and simulation research are carried out. On the basis of the analysis of the displacement of plate-inclined piston type hydraulic motor, the concept, distributor ports' displacements, is put forward. The mathematical expressions of distributor ports' displacements and the transformation ratio are deduced, and simulation research and theoretical analysis are carried out in MATLAB. And the results show the working principle of the hydraulic transformer, indicate the conditions of the transformation ratio in different intervals, and clarify that the displacements and the transformation ratio change periodically with 360° and 180° as their cycles respectively, the range of the transformation ratio is [0, ∞], and the rate of the transformation ratio's change is different at varied intervals.
