Development of forced pulse water strip of thermal spray coatings and chrome plating on aircraft, landing gear, engine and propeller components

The authors are engaged in an extensive continuing collaborative research projects. Thedefinitive goal of the projects is to obtain certification of FPWJ (forced pulsed waterjet)for stripping a variety of hard coatings from aircrafts parts. The combination of severaldifferent substrates with several different coatings makes the process of stripping quitecomplex as the certification is quite stringent. This paper highlights the work currently inprogress. Details of the characteristics of the coating materials are given in the paper.
