Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG)

The Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) is a self-directed group of contractors of U.S.Department of Energy (DOE) facilities. The purpose of the EFCOG is to promote excellence in allaspects of operation and management of information and corresponding improvement initiatives.EFCOG was formed in 1991 by a group of DOE contractors who decided to work together toimprove the cost effectiveness of DOE operations by promoting, coordinating, and facilitating theactive exchange of successful programs, practices, procedures, lessons learned, and other pertinentinformation of common interest which have been effectively utilized by M&O contractors, M&Icontractors and laboratories. EFCOG provides the exchange of information useful to themembership in enhancing excellence in operations. This includes, but is not limited to; lessonslearned, best management practices, industry benchmarks/standards, appraisal findings/resolutions,advances in technical and managerial areas, and new ideas/practices.EFCOG has four primary objectives: 1) Promote, coordinate, and facilitate the active exchange ofsuccessful programs, practices, procedures, lessons learned, and other pertinent information ofcommon interest that have been effectively utilized by DOE contractors and can be adapted toenhance operational excellence and cost effectiveness for continual performance improvement byother DOE contractors. 2) Identify and address issues of common. Focus on active personalexchanges of management and technical information among contractors. 3) Utilize interfaces withorganizations such as, but not limited to, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), Electric PowerResearch Institute (EPRI), Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), Training Resources andData Exchanges (TRADE), Association for Excellence in Reactor Operations (AERO), NuclearSecurity Information Exchange (NSIE), to promote cooperation and interchange information, asappropriate, and minimize duplication of efforts and 4) Interact with DOE in ways that producevalue-added change for both DOE and the contractor community. EFCOG promotes a professionaland cooperative relationship with the Department of Energy and other organizations that may beinvolved or can assist in the quest for operational excellence.
