THE CONCURRENT CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SIDE BY SIDE DECLINES UTILIZING AN ATM-105 ROAD HEADER AS THE PRIMARY MEANS OF EXCAVATION

I consider this project successful and over the road header performed consistently. The advance rate was below what was expected but this was more a factor of the impact of the horizontal stresses on the excavation than the ability to cut the ground. More often than not we would pull the road header out of the headings to allow us to install ground support to areas that were being deformed as the stresses were being relieved. In future projects more resources need to be allocated for the installation of conveyor systems if they are part of the scope.
