This paper presents an evaluation of the non-linear compensation effect of a base station power amplifier while taking into consideration adjacent channel interference between different mobile communication systems. Adjacent channel interference causes an increase in the receiver noise level due to non-linear distortion components of a base station power amplifier operating in an adjacent channel. In order to reduce the adjacent channel interference the non-linear distortion components must be reduced by a linearization technique. The paper shows the required non-linear compensation level for linearization techniques while taking into account the output backoff. Results of this paper show that linearization techniques are useful in reducing the adjacent channel interference from the base station power amplifier.
