Transparent transportation of digitized microwave environments over 10 Gbps optical networks is demonstrated. A Microwave/IP conversion Network Interface (MINI), which digitizes detected microwave without demodulation and converts it into optical IP/Ethernet packets, is developed. The developed MINI has not only the function to transport microwave continuously using UDP (user datagram protocol) over 10 Gbps network (High-rate continuous mode) but also the function to transport the detected microwave intermittently using reliable TCP (transmission control protocol) over 1 Gbps network (Low-rate intermittent mode). In addition, GPS signals are also simultaneously digitized and transported along with the target microwave in the Low-rate intermittent mode, which enables a remote workstation to analyze the target microwave related to the information when and where the microwave was detected. In order to find out general requirements to transport multi-channel signals, the UDP-based transportation of multi-channel ISDB-T (Integrated Service of Digital Broadcasting - Terrestrial) signals is demonstrated. Bit error rate performance of the transported multi-channel ISDB-T signals is investigated for different resolution bits of AD converter and for different number of transported channels. It is shown that more than 8 bits resolution is necessary for AD conversion in multi-channel signals transportation.
