An Application of Smart Card Data for the Behaviour Analysis on Public Transit Users

This research analyzes the characteristics of smart card data, which is collected fromMar. 9 2007 (Friday) to Apr. 7 2007 (Saturday) for 30 days. Data errors in smart carddata can be ignored due to its significantly low frequency. However, empty data onleaving information frequently happens, there should be a way to solve this problem.Also, we examine the characteristics of trips that are made by public transit users inSeoul in Korea, which may be unable to do from other source of data. Lastly, wepresented the potential usage of smart card data, especially as a complement tohousehold travel survey.
