摘要

This paper gives a vivid insight on the various hazards associated with the design (while the design is still in its earliest stages) as well as the appropriate measures that may be incorporated into the design to deal with the hazards of the Marine Oil Facilities in Kuwait concerned with the expansion of the harbor facilities, refurbishment of the existing structures and piers. The main purpose of the study is to recognize and offer solution to key health, safety and environmental concerns for this marine oil facility project and to provide a well considered, detailed account of a appropriate and sufficient formal safety assessment within the Marine facilities Upgrading Project by the application of Checklist and PreHA Rating and Ranking Methods. The accidents caused due to fire, explosion, chemical reactivity, and oil spill dominates the risk level with highest rating numbers. These events can get exaggerated and amplify the hazard through the 'phenomenon of Domino effect, human injury and oils spill risk to marine and coastal ecology is a concern and the importance was specified and brought to the notice with high level rating numbers. The study has laid down the importance of 'Risk Assessment' with HAZOP and HAZAN for the hazard identified with high level of rating and ranking.
