The Sugar Mills in India have travelled a very long way and have commendably achieved very high standard of performance by improving efficiency maintaining minimum, downtime and reducing cost. To maintain the future improvements, the overall functioning, and preventive maintenance while in operation is the crux in achieving our objectives.In the modern era of economic depression environment, all factories are trying to cut down their costs in various modes. Sugar industry is also not exempted from it. With the raw material cost absorbing more than 80% of the cost of the production, the balance 20% factors within our control are to be tapped to its effeciivity. Otherwise the results achieved are not going to yield return.Considering the above facts Ponni management implemented WCM - Tool in the boiler section from the year 2006 onwards. The first part of our paper talks about WCM - lean tools in briefly. AMTs in many ways determine the success of the WCM programme. Vigorous and effective AMTs can help in reaching the organizational goals with ease and in quick time. WCM audit methods are also explained in the second part of the article.Final part of this article deals with the application of WCM in boiler section and the important activities carried out by AMTs.
