Data management and SDI - Experiences from the GITEWS project

For th e BMBF p roject GI TEWS, th e Germ an contribution to a tsunami early warning system for the Indian Ocean, a geodata repository was established. This repository contains all geodata, which were required for the development and implementation of GITEWS. During the stage ofrequirements analy sis all availa ble and relevant data w ere acquired an d collected. Th is p rocess w as realized in clos e collaboration with the Indo nesian par tner or ganizations. During th e h armonization proces s s everal q uality control procedures were performed to ensure the maximum possible quality and reliability.On the on hand t he ge ospatial data w ere pr ovided to th e different work groups in the project. On the other hand the data repository was integ rated in th e Earl y Wa rning an d Mitigation Sy stem, prov iding a larg e geod atabase for the Decision Suppo rt Sy stem. The da ta ac cess to the re pository was rea lized by using OGC compliant web servic es (WM S, WFS, WCS, CSW 2.0).
