Based on the governing equations of three-dimensional elasticity,the free vibration problem of functionally graded circular cylindrical shell with simply supported boundary conditions is considered.The material properties of functionally graded circular cylindrical shell are assumed to vary only along the thickness direction in power law function.By employing state space method and shooting method,the natural frequencies of the FGM cylindrical shells are obtained.Numerical results were shown in the characteristic curves and analyses have been carried out for the understanding of the influence of the power-law index,thickness-to-radius ratio and radius-to-length ratio on the lowest natural frequencies.In order to assure the accuracy of the present theory,the comparisons of the numerical results in this paper with those in the literature are given.
